Carneal

Carneal is a coordinate stripe made from the brush stroke stripe in Lawrence. I used the side of a pointy brush to make these marks and added dots. I probably painted 10 different versions of this. But because the paint would be overloaded or too faint, we had to cut some of the brush strokes out and replace them from other tests I tried. Making this repeat looks fresh but not too wonky was a challenge. The fabric of Carneal is our first pattern that is hand silk screened on a tinted linen. Carneal is a family name on my father’s side of the family.
